The founder, CWG Plc, the largest Systems Integration Company in Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Austin Okere, has been slated to speak at a workshop for directors and senior management executives of listed firms of the Nigeria Stock Exchange. It is billed to hold on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the NSE Building in Lagos.

The workshop, with the theme “Building a Sustainable Capital Market: The Role of Directors”, aims at examining the role of Directors in ensuring a profitable and sustainable capital market. The workshop is being jointly organized by the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

It aims at helping the participants understand their roles and responsibilities as Directors in ensuring good corporate governance practices and help them recognize the competitive advantage of good corporate governance in the era of rapid transformation and change. It is also designed to expose participants to new tools that have been developed to promote superior board performance as well as appreciate their role in driving the sustainability of the capital market.

Austin Okere has enjoyed a sustained relationship with the NSE since his company, CWG Plc listed on the stock market as the first listing on the exchange after the launch of the X-Gen trading engine with CWG Plc being the highest capitalized security in the ICT sector of the exchange. Recall that he advocated for the resuscitation of the NgREN during the Closing Gong Ceremony held on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) building in Lagos, last year.

He is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Columbia Business School (CBS), New York and a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Business Council on Innovation and Intrapreneurship.

Austin Okere also serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Business School Network (GBSN), a body dedicated to advancing the cause of knowledge sharing to inspire and transform business education across the globe. Austin Okere is an incumbent member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria, as well as the Advisory Council of the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON). He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS).
