The Founder, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG Plc), a Pan African Systems Integrator with annual revenue of over $120m, Mr. Austin Okere was a guest speaker at the Economist’s Nigeria Summit 2013 held at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos.

The summit will bring together one hundred and fifty senior figures: government leaders, CEOs from major African and international corporations, leading investors as well as independent commentators and experts for a series of discussions around Nigeria’s transformation and the commercial opportunities emerging within this dynamic economy. The Economist Group has a reputation for intellectual integrity, independence and clarity which enables the attraction of an audience of very senior decision-makers.

Okere shall be joining a high profile panel of Nigeria’s most successful self-made business people in conversation with the latest generation of young African entrepreneurs, discussing the stories behind their successes and how they shattered preconceived ideas, dealt with obstacles and created inventive business models.

Speaking on the new breed of disruptive entrepreneurs, Austin remarked “I believe that it is better to have a thousand millionaires than a ten billionaires. It is better still to have a million people with access to a hundred thousand dollars, if they can be taught how to nurture and grow it through entrepreneurial endeavor”.

On why he is participating in the conference, Okere had this to say “I like to put the story of the Computer Warehouse Group out there because such success stories contribute immensely to the attraction of capital to the region, which combined with the entrepreneurial acumen and the youthful population unleashes waves of economic boom, which in turn lifts the pile at bottom of the pyramid into the more desirable networked economy of the emerging global village”.

The keynote address at the conference was delivered by His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan, who spoke on the transformation agenda, where he outlined his strategy for tackling terrorism and his outlook for Nigeria for the next decade.

Other speakers at the two day conference include Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, immediate past Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the President of the African Development Bank and The former Federal Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke.
